Chapter 8: Recurring Memories

Stella sat up and held her throbbing head.

“Shit… Why did I drink?” Stella cursed.

“Hey…” Stella said as she turned to see the pillow beside her is empty. Her facial expression immediately became downcast. A feeling of rejection flooded her body. Muttering an inaudible whisper, she stood up and left. The main door closed letting out a soft ‘click’. Kyuu who had just finished his shower heard it and immediately ran out of the bathroom in a white robe to see an empty room. Kyuu immediately ran to the oak wardrobe and pulled out a white long sleeve shirt and a pair of skinnies and put them on, grabbed his keys and ran out.

After searching the area for around 30 minutes, he got a call. He flipped open his phone and saw the caller ID and realized that it was from Stella’s home. He instantly pressed the green button and pressed it against his right ear.

“Stella!”

“Kyuu, its Athrun.” Athrun replied.

“Athrun… What is it?” Kyuu panted.

“Get your ass over.” Athrun said coldly and the line went dead. Immediately, Kyuu dashed as fast as he could. In his mind, short prayers pounded again and again.

“Oh God, please let Stella be okay…”

Kyuu took a deep breath and knocked the door. After a momentary wait, Athrun answered it. Athrun facial expression looked grim but he still moved aside to allow Kyuu to enter. Athrun nodded at Stella’s room and Kyuu immediately headed towards it.

Kyuu knocked the door and opened it and walked into a pitch dark room. Kyuu touched aimlessly on the wall hoping to touch the switch by sheer luck. Finally, he reached it. When the light was on, Kyuu swiftly scanned the room and saw Stella crouching at a corner, her head buried in her knees. Kyuu walked towards her and pat her shoulder. Stella looked at Kyuu, tears brimming her aquamarine orbs. In one swift action, Stella threw her arms around Kyuu and wailed out loud.

“Why?! Why must everything be taken away from me?” Stella yelled.

“First was *mother, the it was **Mi-chan, followed by ***Rey, Then Kira… Now its Kyuu! Why must everything leave me?!” Stella sobbed. Kyuu hugged her and tried to hush her.

“Why… why must fate be so cruel to me?” Stella whimpered.

“Shh… Don’t cry...” Kyuu comforted reminding Stella of her promise. But that made Stella bawl harder

“IDIOT!! I only said that because I didn’t want Kyuu to hate me and leave me!! When Mi-chan died, It was because I cried too much, that’s why Rey left me for another woman!” Stella yelled as she pushed herself away from Kyuu. Her eyes clouded with emotions that she had been suppressing for so long.

“No… Rey may have left you, but, I’ll never ever leave you because you keep on crying. The reason behind tears is to express one’s feelings. Only someone who is true to their feelings, will dare to cry. Stella being true to herself… that is why I like Stella” Kyuu confessed.

“LIAR!! How can you not leave me?! I’m…!” Stella retorted but Kyuu silent her with his index finger on her lips. He then placed his hand over Stella’s right hand and brought it to his chest.

“No matter where you go. No matter where I am. I’ll never leave you cause you will forever be in my heart.” Kyuu whispered making Stella burst into tears. She collapse into Kyuu’s arms sobbing uncontrollably.

Then, from the attic came a very sweet melody. The piano notes rang through the house echoing off the walls. Though the lyrics were unknown, but the tune was enough to stop Stella’s tears. Together, both Kyuu and Stella entered the attic to see Athrun on the piano bench playing. His delicate fingertips dancing across the black and white piano keys

Out of the blue, the door bell rang. Athrun stopped playing and turned. Stella than nodded and left to open the door. There she saw a blonde hair lady in her late 20s wearing a pearly white tunic and a pair of navy blue jeans, in her hands were two heavy bags of grocery. Her fiery amber orbs met Stella’s serene aquamarine one. Then, Athrun came out from the attic.

“Stella, who is it?” Athrun asked as he made his way to the door. But he stopped halfway. His emerald orbs widened as he saw the strangers nostalgic face. Despite the long silence, Athrun only managed to utter out a name

“Cagalli…”
